The Project

On 5th November 2007 the hammer came down on the old garage that stood in the way of our plans for the new bed and breakfast extension. On 7th June 2008 our first guests were Rosa and Clive Jennings celebrated Rosa’s 75th birthday by being the first people to stay with us.

That period of seven months represents probably the most demanding, stressful and creative time of my life! To build just three (agreed, exceptional) bedrooms involved an architect, the local planning office, a structural engineer, builder, heating installation company, lighting company, light switches company, a sewerage and drainage company, fire alarm installer, decorators, artist, lock supplier, garden designer, three window companies, four door companies, at least five bathroom companies, five flooring companies, two computer graphics companies, bespoke furniture maker, wall mirror company, radiator supplier, blinds company, more furniture and accessories suppliers than you can shake a stick at, and the chap who brings topsoil. The list would be longer but the builder coordinated the electrician and tilers and the heating company provided the outside ground source heating system, the inside under floor heating and the solar panels.

So here is a list of the brightest and best:
